During Inquiry II, I learned:
My future planning has been
greatly impacted by seeing the success of strategic implementation of literacy
and teaching techniques with both Ella (Inquiry II) and Ashley (Inquiry
I). Ashley is now a very focused “A”
student who seeks help daily, stays after school every other day, and is over 2
weeks ahead of schedule in her curriculum.
I now have a great tool kit
of strategies to help support my students and differentiate my instruction with
my classes. I have been using these
strategies to help other students, and I see success everywhere! I know that not every student will have the
same results, and that life (parenting, sickness, parole hearings, working, and
family issues) will sometimes interrupt the learning process; however, I am
very happy with the results I have seen so far.
I look forward to helping as many of my students as possible turn their
bad learning habits into effective and supportive habits, increasing their
confidence and their GPA!
The practices I have put in place have helped
students develop positive habits based on our classroom routines. I know that I am capable of learning new
techniques and implementing them successfully.
Not all students will benefit from all strategies, but my goal is to
have a great tool kit to use so that I can differentiate instruction to help
customize my students’ unique mathematics education.
My next steps are to continue the routines I
have established for the long run, allowing new and future students to jump
into a well-oiled machine without any chaos or question. This will also allow me to get very
comfortable with these strategies, opening up my energy and focus to learn new
strategies that will move me from an exploring teacher to an innovating
teacher.
